Warner Music and Netflix Near Deal for Artist-Centric Films
Warner Music Group is finalizing a partnership with Netflix to produce films and documentaries featuring its roster of artists. The collaboration, expected to be signed imminently, aims to translate popular music into visual storytelling. This marks a strategic pivot for Warner Music, which shuttered its internal film division earlier this year.
The MOVE follows the commercial success of Taylor Swift's concert film, which grossed $50 million in a limited theatrical run. Warner Music's catalog—including works by Ed Sheeran, Madonna, and Prince—presents untold narratives. CEO Robert Kyncl emphasized the potential of these stories, noting Netflix's platform as an ideal vehicle for their distribution.
